Master Eric Ahn (6th Dan of the Korea Hadeong Gumdo Association and the World Haedong Gumdo Federation) has taught Haedong Gumdo in Korea more than 10 years.
Having his experience in teaching Haedong Gumdo, he volunteered to teach Haedong Gumdo to the public right after his arrival to Montreal, Canada in 2004.

However, people could not learn Gumdo in wintertime, on rainy days or in a bad temperature. For this reason, many people had wanted to have a gym that could allow them access to Haedong Gumdo any time regardless of the weather.
For the people who wanted to learn Gumdo in a regular base, Master Ahn finally opened his first ever Canadian Haedong Gumdo school in Montreal (Cote St-Luc), in September 2005.
Since then, lots of people have learned Haedong Gumdo and the name Haedong Gumdo is being known to the public more and more.

As master Ahn is also certified master of Gichunmoon - Korean martial art - students of Haedong Gumdo can take advantage of learning Gichunmoon at the same time throughout whole classes.
Haedong Gumdo is mainly focused on using sword as it is imagined by the name Sword Art. Gichunmoon (also called as Gichun or Kichun), on the other hand, is total martial art which has almost the same age as Korean history.
Yet, both Haedong Gumdo and Gichunmoon have almost the same origin and use almost the same terminology and stances. Thus, learners of Haedong Gumdo under master Ahn's direction can practice either Gichunmoon or Haedong Gumdo in a same class as natural as they can feel.

Now master Ahn teaches Haedong Gumdo and Gichunmoon about 50:50 during the class.
Beginner students start to learn skills of Haedong Gumdo first, but according to the timeline, they eventually learn more of Gichunmoon.
